The trials will be run under the Rules of the Queensland Working Cattle Dog Trial Association Inc (QWCDTAI) with dogs vying for points towards the Annual Dog of the Year (Novice & Open) which is finalised for 2018 on the 30th June, as well as the prizes on offer. Most of the dogs in the top 20 placings for these awards (Novice & Open) will be competing at Agro Trend assuring some good competition. This year there will be 23 trials held all over Queensland that are affiliated with QWCDTAI.

The trial commences with three cattle being let out of a yard for the dog to cast around & bring them back to be held in the holding area where the handler is. When this is completed the handler, cattle & dog proceed around a designated course that is   completed when the cattle are put out of the arena at the finishing yard. Time allowed to complete the course is 6minutes. (Course is designed to simulate a mini paddock situation)

The cattle have been educated with dogs, as weaners, by Barrie & Elizabeth Hughes (Electra) & though quiet will test the dogs & competitors skills out, as they do every year.
